Style Perspectives - Patterned Shirt

Wednesday, March 23, 2016

Oh my gosh, I can't even tell you how much stress this week's prompt has given me! (In case you're new around here - The Blended Blog is hosting a Style Challenge, with Weekly prompts, more info below).

I kept interpreting the prompt "Patterned shirt with neutrals" differently. My first thought was any patterned shirt with neutral pants. So all week I've been stressing about neutral pants. What colour should I wear? Are jeans a neutral? And then today when I finally put my look together, I had a panic attack - what if it meant the SHIRT should be neutral, if that's the case I've failed miserably. If not then I think I did okay.

Here's what I ended up with:

Patterned Shirt - Kohls - 2 years ago
Skinnies - Old Navy
Boyfriend Cardy - Old navy
Booties - Payless
Amazing necklace - Gift
Bright coral lipstick - Stila Stay all day liquid (run dont walk to sephora to get this) in Carina

A few notes about this photo:

  • Yes, it's snowing. After being spring like weather for the last two weeks, we're back to snow.
  • I'm a photographer and I forgot my famous line of "Chin out and down" so I have 17 chins
  • I didn't Photoshop them out for the sake of being 'truthful'. Though in the spirit of being honest I did try for 30 full minutes.
  • I'm not sure why I'm standing like that. I didn't have to pee honestly. I think maybe I figured it would make me skinnier in the photo.
I love that we're keeping track of each week's look. Look how pretty we were last week:

  1. I love your honesty and I love those colours on you. I adore the snowy background and your commentaries. I want to kidnap you and move you (and Shaunacey) here. Also- I WILL run to Sephora today and get that lipstick. Is it matte or gloss?? Does it really stay all day?

  3. hahah I just love you! First, you look great and the picture is fantastic. Kicks my bedroom selfie pics... but I'll let that slide because you're a photographer.
Seriously, you may have to train me how to take pictures.
I digress, you rocked this look and I LOVE that your pattern is bright because it's the perfect contrast with this garbage weather!

  11. Your outfit is like sunshine out there in all that snow. Great color palette. If you are the photographer, then who is taking your pics? I am so jealous of all of you gals to have someone to snap your pics. And that lipstick is smashing!

  13. Nicole, I am sitting in Starbucks, laughing out loud at your comments! You are FUNNY girl!! I *seriously* love your pink and orange. I'm trying to think of what I have to pull this look together. I bought an orange cardigan from Land's End for Christmas and I.cannot.find.it. It's driving me crazy! I really really hope it didn't get thrown out in the Christmas crazy. Like maybe it was still in the gift box? (Hope not!)
