This place I call home!

This topic has me stumped.

You would think as a photographer I would be able to show lovely photographs of my city that surrounds Kempenfelt Bay.

Nope.

Every photo I have has another person (or people in it). So we'll see how I manage with this.

A bit about me: Born in Newmarket Ontario (same hospital as Jim Carrey LOL), raised in Aurora Ontario (think StarsHollow from Gilmore Girls) but moved to Bradford when I was 7.

Bradford at the time was a very small farming town. It's grown since, but here's the town mascot:

Nope. I'm not kidding. When I was in highschool someone added a beer can to Gwilly's hand, and that was the joke for a while..........Yes, very lame.

Moving, on. When I went to college in 1999/2000 I move to Barrie, and have for the most part lived here since. I atteneded Georgian College, and then as luck would have it I got a job there. I ended up falling in love with the city ( duh anything was better than Bradford)

I'm not going to lie. As a person who hates snow and winter Barrie sucks from December to March. But totally rocks in the summer. Always seems like something is happening every weekend in the summer. From the Waterfront festival to Kempenfest. And of course we shut down Dunlop street downtown for Canada Day weekend and it's amazing.

All in all it's a great small city about 40 min - 1 hour from Toronto which is great. Here are some random photos of my family that I took in the City of Barrie - I'm the worst photographer of scenic stuff so there is none of that. My bad!

Make sure to check out the other ladies from the style me bloggers and their city!

  4. My husband and I have talked about taking a trip to Canada some day, but it seems nuts that you have to have a passport! As a kid we went to Niagra Falls off and on and it was no big deal then. Some day!

  5. I need to explore Ontario more. All we ever do is Toronto to Oakville and back. I am very well versed in downtown Toronto but am needing to see this "Cottage Country" that everyone talks of

  6. I definitely just had to google where you were at. My Canadian geography is subpar. If it makes you feel better, my town mascot is an owl. There are worse things than a carrot, I'm hoping carrots are at least grown there?

  8. LOVING that mascot. I have to say I giggled a little when you said it had a beer can. That's too funny. Looks like a beautiful place to live! I myself don't enjoy winters.
